A very simple way to protect something against UV light is to prevent UV absorption, That is reducing UV light absorbed by various of chromophores. This can be achieved by incorporating UV absorbers in the products such as contact lenses, which function by preferentially absorbing harmful ultraviolet radiation and dissipating it as thermal energy. Benzophenones and benzotriazoles are the best of choices among those chromophores.
